...wird eher einer der ersten full-steel-body Stations gewesen sein; 'Stahl' im Gegensatz zu früherem tlw. Holzaufbau.....

Plymouth oder Willys hatten in meiner Erinnerung die ersten full-steel-bodied Stations im Programm....Crosley glaub' ich auch....

The first factory-built all-steel station wagon in North America was the 1946 Jeep Station Wagon, based upon the rugged Jeep produced by Willys-Overland during the war. The Willys was a two-door vehicle, and in premium trim had its passenger compartment exterior painted in a style that evoked the light framing/darker panel design of wagons from the woodie era.

Aber ich find ihn nicht....eigentlich ist ja nur die Farbe der einzige dezidierte Hinweis; der 'Rest' könnte für jeden soliden low- bis mid-price Station stehen.....

Motorisiert waren ALLE damals eher mäßig......

Plymouth again offered a 9-passenger car called the Special Deluxe Station Wagon. It had exterior wood trim and removable second and third seats. A new introduction -- the 6-passenger Deluxe Suburban--had a folding second seat ahead of a 42-inch flat floor, and became known as the first all-steel body station wagon. Automatic "turn-the-key" ignition was born to a low-priced car.

Tom McCahill of Mechanix Illustrated magazine tested one of the first Suburbans. They all came originally in "horse's hoof brown," as he called it, which he went on to say "had all the merchandising appeal that a barrel of raw oysters has for your seasick Aunt Sadie." They were soon made available in a variety of colours, however.

While Chevrolet, Pontiac and Oldsmobile also had all-steel wagons in 1949, it was Plymouth that seemed to offer the best value, and capture the imagination of buyers. It is therefore, the best remembered of the first all-steel wagons
